Cigarettes After Sex is an American dream pop band formed in El Paso, Texas, in 2008 by Greg Gonzalez. The band is known for their ethereal, limerent and often dream-similar musical style, lyrics often based on the themes of romance and honey, as well every bit Gonzalez'southward voice, which has been described every bit "androgynous".[vii] While marketed every bit an ambient pop band, Cigarettes Afterward Sex are likewise considered to be shoegaze, slowcore and indie stone.

Cigarettes Afterwards Sex activity was formed in El Paso, Texas, in 2008.[eight] [nine] [vii] Gonzalez recorded the first EP, I., in a four-story stairway at his alma mater, University of Texas at El Paso, calling the experience "basically an accident; kind of an experiment".[7]

Gonzalez relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where the band'southward single "Amore" was recorded and released in 2015 along with a cover of REO Speedwagon's "Keep On Loving You".[10] [11]

Through music recommendations, Cigarettes Afterwards Sex became popular on YouTube, leading to alive performances beyond Europe, Asia, and the United States. The band then released their self-titled debut studio album on June 9, 2017.[12] [7] [thirteen]

In August 2019 the band announced their 2nd studio album, titled Weep, along with the single "Heavenly". The album was released on October 25, 2019.

"Falling in Love" took two years to write, later on Gonzalez met his electric current girlfriend, Nour Petite. "I wrote the chorus in the middle of a bunch of tours, very far from beloved or real relationships, and trying to write that song would've felt dishonest. By the time nosotros got into the studio, I was seeing my current girlfriend and wrote from a existent perspective," Gonzalez pauses earlier continuing.
